Is Barack Obama going to change History ?

dimanche 28 décembre 2008, par J-M Bettembourg

My opinion about the election of Barack Obama.

I think the election of Senator Obama as the new president of the United States is a good thing for America, but also for the rest of the world.

First, his election shows a real change in the way people think. Indeed, a few years ago, a black man becoming president would have seemed unimaginable, that’s why this election is, according to me, a very good thing for the country. The election of Barack Obama also encourages minorities to open up more and to express themselves.

Moreover, I think that president Obama will be able to change things in the whole world, because the United States of America, the World first superpower, have a huge influence on all the other countries, and a lot of countries take them as a model. We can also imagine that this election could make racism disappear : Is Barack Obama going to change History ?

But one the most important point to me is the fact that Barack Obama is the first black president of the United States, which is an event that made a deep impression on everybody. Indeed, the whole world hailed his victory. His election also erased the conservative image of America, and we can see this victory as a revenge on the past, that is to say on the Segregation and on the inferiority of Black community during many years.

On a politic point of view, president Obama seems willing to change a lot of things. For example, he will try to stop the Iraq War, and to create a Green Project. For me, it would be a kind of rebirth for the country, and the new president really wants to correct the mistakes that have been done in the past. He’s determined to bring modifications on many subjects, as for example the economic crisis that threatens the world.

Moreover, I think that Barack Obama draws level to presidency because he’s very charismatic and really determined to make his projects come true. He’s sometimes compared with Roosevelt and Kennedy, which shows that he’s a very strong and well-meaning man.

To conclude, I can say that I do think the election of Barack Obama as president is a very good thing. I think it’s a turning point in American histoy and a victory for the whole world. Moreover his election shows the big evolution of the way people think. The world was waiting for him and, according to me, it needed him.
